In a recent tweet to a fellow colleague, Matt Phillips, Head of Communications for the BBC’s Media & Technology division, has confirmed that iPlayer apps are indeed “coming soon.”
iPlayer is a service for those in the U.K. that allows viewers to watch the network’s TV programmes on-demand through the iPlayer website. A web app for the iPhone and the iPad has been around for some time, however, users are eagerly anticipating a native iOS application.
The iPlayer application is expected to hit the App Store later this week, but we’ll let you know as soon as it’s available.
After a little digging around in Apple’s latest iOS 4.3 SDK and firmware, it has been revealed that the next major update for the iPhone 4, iPod touch, and iPad could introduce wireless syncing, a sports training program, and the Photo Booth application. In addition, it could also boast a ‘quick look’ feature similar to that in OS X which would enable the user to preview files and attachments without actually launching dedicated apps.
The discoveries were made by programmer Chris Galzerano, who has published his findings on his blog, and arguably the most exciting of the discoveries is the ability to sync our devices with iTunes wirelessly, which is something I’m sure every iOS user is eagerly anticipating. Steve Jobs did confirm back in June that the feature would “someday” be introduced to Apple’s devices.
Recent reports regarding extremely low stock levels for Apple’s current line of MacBook Pros have led to speculation that a product refresh is coming in the not too distant future. Further evidence to support these claims has emerged from 9to5 Mac today, after they received screenshots from the Best Buy store inventory that lists a new MacBook Pro system with a March 11th, 2011 release date.
The listing in Best Buy’s system files the product under “Dummy SKU,” however, another screenshot does display a price tag of $1,199, which is the current price of the low-end 13-inch MacBook Pro. This indicates that when the announcement does come, there may not be a change to the line up’s price structure.
White iPhone 4 Coming February 27th?
Two reports have recently emerged that suggest the notorious white iPhone 4 could soon be on its way. One comes from MacRumors, who have been handed a screenshot (above) claimed to be from the Best Buy store inventory, which lists both the 16 and 32 GB models of the iPhone with an “in-stock” date of February 27th. Both devices carry the same SKU numbers as those that were originally listed when Best Buy were taking pre-orders for the devices prior to last summer’s launch.

Japanese Mac blog Macotakara has suggested in a report today that Apple’s next iPod Touch device could feature the same glasses-free 3D display that will be introduced later this year in the Nintendo 3DS. Macotakara points at the multiple patents the Cupertino company has recently filed for 3D technologies to back up its theory, but also claims that they have confirmation from a source working with an LCD panel manufacturer.
